Family Preservation And Support

Program Purpose
To coordinate services between CCTHITA Human Services, the State of Alaska Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies and programs in an effort to provide family preservation and support services in a more effective and efficient manner.

Program Description
The program has two components: Subpart 1 is for child welfare services; Subpart 2 is for family preservation and support. Training is provided for all Human Services staff on how to assist families with problems so they can stay together and/or reunite. Assigned staff attend regular meetings with key state and agency personnel to identify the adequacy of services and ways to improve them.

Goals
The Family Preservation and Support Grant, Subparts 1 and 2, are combined for future funding and goals. These goals include:continuing partnerships with other Alaska tribes, the State of Alaska, and other relevant agencies;
enhancing collaboration and building stronger partnerships between state, tribal, public, and non-profit agencies in order to improve family services; enhancing and increasing the intensity of resources for at-risk families at the community level; providing opportunities for communities to increase their knowledge of available services; offering more accessible services and service providers; assisting communities with assessing and addressing their unique needs;improving the knowledge base and competency level of community-based service providers; developing and maintaining a consumer satisfaction evaluation system which will include both consumers of services and service providers; and providing the training necessary to allow multi-tasking positions.

Funding Agency
Funds are received through the Administration for Children and Families, Department of Health and Human Services.
