Elections

General elections of delegates to the Tribal Assembly of the Central Council shall be held every even-numbered year on the third Thursday in March.

Elections are held in each of Central Council’s 21 registered communities. One delegate is allocated for every 150 enrolled tribal citizens per community. Tribal citizens who live more than 100 miles away from a registered community are able to select the voting community of their choice; tribal citizens who live within 100 miles are automatically assigned. Tribal citizens must be 18 or older to be nominated and/or vote in their community’s election of delegates.

Elected delegates attend the Tribe’s annual convention and in turn vote in the Central Council President, Executive Council Officers, as well as the Tribal Court Chief Justice and Judges.
