Circle of Brothers - A Healing Group for Men

Join Tlingit & Haida's Community & Behavioral Services Healing Center for a men's talking circle focused on healing wounds and achieving wellness. This group is facilitated by David Evenson, Tlingit & Haida's Community & Behavioral Services Peer Support Specialist.

Topics include: Understanding Emotions, Managing Stress and Anxiety, Parenting & Relationship Challenges, Communicating Feelings, Coping Strategies for Grief & Trauma and Walking in Sobriety.

Join Tlingit & Haida and partners for an Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Workshop focused on enhancing community partnerships, informing partners of new ICWA policies and guidelines, and helping ICWA representatives increase their courtroom advocacy skills and learn together.

Note: The ICWA Workshop has been approved by the Alaska Bar Association as continuing education for attorneys.

3rd Annual Tlingit & Haida Youth Summit

Your voice and vision are our future! Tribal citizen youth (ages 16-27) are invited to TLingit & Haida's 3rd Annual Youth Summit. As a youth driven and focused event, the summit will provide a space for youth to learn from each other, use their collective voice to influence change and learn how to engage in the tribal government process. A limited number of travel scholarships are available.

Lingít Coffee Time with Elders

Tlingit & Haida's Cultural Heritage & Education Division is pleased to host Lingít Coffee Time with Elders! The virtual gatherings include a panel of Elders each week with conversations moderated by Yandu.ein Paul Marks II. The conversations are designed to provide an immersive experience in the Lingít language and will focus on a variety of topics.

Join Tlingit & Haida for a free Xaad Kíl (Haida language) class! The virtual class is intended for beginners, but language learners of all levels are welcome to join. Participants will learn the language structure, including phonetics, vocabulary, word formation and grammatical construction. Classes will be held every Monday and Wednesday starting September 12th. Shaawát Wooneix • Jaadáa 'Lagahl Beading Circle

In our tradition, no one beads alone. Join Tlingit & Haida's newly formed virtual support group, Shaawát Wooneix, Jaadáa 'Lagahl Beading Circle! The free support group meets every Friday evening via Zoom and provides a safe space for people to share their lives while working on beading projects together.

Grief & Loss Support Group - A Healing Journey Together

Dates & Times: Mondays (12:00PM - 1:00PM) & Fridays (4:00PM - 5:30PM)

 

Have you recently experienced loss? The pain of loss can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. Tlingit & Haida's Community & Behavioral Services Healing Center can help.

We invite you to join the Grief & Loss support group to learn healthy ways of coping with loss of a loved one or major life changes.

The support group provides eight weeks of sessions and is an open, yet safe and confidential forum facilitated by therapists. Facilitators will provide education on the grieving process and how to cope using a blended approach of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with traditional grieving practices.
