CCTHITA President Meets With Governor Palin
On January 31, 2007 President Thomas and several distinguished Native Leaders from Southeast Alaska had the pleasure of meeting with newly elected Governor Sarah Palin. The Native Leaders took this opportunity to welcome the governor to Tlingit Country and to present her with issues that affect communities throughout Southeast Alaska. Palin was very receptive to the issues brought to the table and is very willing to work together with them to resolve as many of these issues as her Administration can.
Palin was presented with gifts from Sealaska Corporation, Sealaska Heritage Institute and Tlingit Haida Central Council.
The Governor was pleased these Native Leaders came together to meet with her on these important issues.
A very special thank you to Senator Albert Kookesh and his staff who took the lead on this very successful meeting, it was appreciated by all who attended.
