SELF-GOVERNANCE COORDINATOR HIRED 
The Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska
is pleased to announce the hiring of Georgia Finau for the position
of Self-Governance Coordinator.
Georgia was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska. Her father was
George Mather Sr., his family was from Metlakatla and her mother
was Winnifred Williams Mather from Hydaburg. She is Haida/Tsimpshian
and very proud of her heritage.
Georgia attended and graduated from Brigham Young University in
Provo, Utah and Laie, Hawaii. She has three children: Leilani, Tia,
and Ben; and, one unspoiled grandson Victor Jonathan Emosi Finau.
Previous positions held by Georgia:
- Tribal Wellness Program Director, $3.6 million program funded
through Alaska Federal of Natives/Indian Health Service
- Grants Administrator for CCTHITA Finance Office;
- Program Manager for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Healthy
Nations Program;
- Liaison for NOAA Marine Mammal Alaska Division;
- Budget Analyst for Office of Trust, Central Office of Bureau
of Indian Affairs in Washington, D.C.
- Executive Director of the Ketchikan Indian Corporation.
