Southeast Alaska Native Veterans Association Honors President Thomasand Recognizes Native Veterans

The Southeast Alaska Native Veterans Association held a Veterans Day ceremony and luncheon on November 11th at the Alaska Native Brotherhood (ANB) Hall in Juneau, Alaska. Despite the bright sunny weather the turn out for the event was excellent.

The Native Veterans Association had a "Warrior for Distinguished Service" medallion designed and cast for presentation to all Native Veterans in attendance. They also presented certificates to each recipient to commemorate the event in writing. The medallion was designed by Richard Dalton III (originally from Hoonah).

President Thomas was presented with an honorary medallion and a certificate of appreciation for his enduring and steadfast support of the efforts of the Native Veterans. He was also given the honor of being the featured speaker at this event and as part of his presentation he showed a video that was put together in honor of our Native Veterans. The video will be updated and sent to our Natives who are actively serving in the military to give them a reminder of home.

The Native Veterans also honored Myrna Brown (Front Office Administrative Assistant) for her years of volunteering to help them in all of their activities. Even as they were recognizing her for her work, she was busy updating their membership list and addresses and helping out in the kitchen. The lunch was prepared by Grandma's Incorporated and the food was great. Myrna is very generous with her time in helping our people; it is very admirable and greatly appreciated.
