Mission Statement

The mission of the Office of the President is to ensure that the policies adopted by the legislative branch (Delegates) of the Tribe is carried out in the administrative processes of the Tribe by working directly with program managers and support staff on the day-to-day operations of the Tribe.

The President is committed to providing reports on program progress to communities served and securing feedback so that program services can be allocated in a fair and equitable fashion reflecting the needs of each community.  He will provide every opportunity for Tribal personnel to develop to their fullest potential so that they can provide quality services while maintaining a competitive spirit.

Vision Statement

Our forefathers have done a terrific job in laying a solid foundation for us to take the tribe into the future in an honorable and effective manner. The value of a sound tribal government increases as the political climate in the United States changes, and there are increased efforts to eradicate the rights of all Native Americans.

The Social problems of our people increase and we must take ownership of these problems if we are going to find long-term solutions and lead our people into a lifestyle of healthy living and strong family values.

The Tlingit and Haida people have always known that education of our youth is critical to our survival. In traditional times dropping out of education was not an option! The young people had to learn from their elders how to make a living or they would perish. We must reinstate the philosophy of our leaders of past generations that “dropping out of education is not an option” in today’s world if we are ever going to move forward with pride as a people.
