Title V. Senior Employment Program

Program Purpose
To help empower the elderly to remain in their own homes and continue an independent lifestyle.

Program Description
Elderly resource aides are deployed in Haines/Klukwan, Kake, and Saxman.

Accomplishments
45% of our total elderly population were served through in-home support services, which include errands, home health care, homemaker services, telephone, chores, escort, personal care, interpretation, translation, and other services. 484 elderly Natives reside in the following service areas:

Haines/Klukwan: 42
Juneau: 332
Kake: 68
Saxman: 42

Total: 484

Goals
To provide program services to 484 Alaska Native elders (60 years of age and older).

Key Dates
The grant period is July 1 through June 30.

Funding Agency
The funding agency is the Administration on Aging, Department of Health and Human Services.
