Health & Social Services
The Elderly Services program aims to achieve wellness for the elderly through health and social services. The program assists tribal elders in accessing health and community resources. Program staff also visit and assist elders in their homes, allowing the elders to maintain an independent lifestyle.
The Elderly Services Program provides:
-
In-home support services.
-
Regular visitation and telephone calls to participating elders.
-
Advocacy, including assistance with completing forms for public assistance, Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.
An elder “Chair Fitness” class is offered in Juneau on a weekly basis. Transportation to and from the class is provided for elders; a light lunch is served after the class.
