Elections
General elections of Delegates to the Tribal Assembly of Tlingit & Haida shall be held every even-numbered year on the third Thursday in March.
Elections are held in each of Tlingit & Haida’s 21 registered communities. One delegate is allocated for every 200 enrolled tribal citizens per community. Tribal citizens who live more than 100 miles away from a registered community are able to select the voting community of their choice; tribal citizens who live within 100 miles are automatically assigned. Tribal citizens must be 18 or older to be nominated and/or vote in their community’s election of delegates.
Elected delegates will attend the Tribe’s annual Tribal Assembly and in turn vote in the Tlingit & Haida President, Executive Council Officers, as well as the Tribal Court Chief Justice and Judges.
